Nearly fifty years of independent care.
Crab Lane Veterinary Practice has been treating Harrogate's pets since 1977, founded by Nigel and Frances Harcourt-Brown and now run by Allison Gleadhill, still genuinely independent, not part of a chain.
Independent since 1977
Nigel and Frances Harcourt-Brown founded Crab Lane Veterinary Practice in 1977, on the same Bilton road the practice still occupies today. Allison Gleadhill joined as a partner in 2012 and took full ownership in 2016, keeping the practice independent rather than folding it into one of the larger corporate veterinary groups that now own much of the sector.
That independence matters in practice: decisions about how the practice runs, from staffing to how appointments are handled, are made by the people actually working in it, not a head office. Four vets currently work from Crab Lane, treating local Harrogate pets alongside referral cases sent in from further across the North East.
